    Online Education-Business dating agency portal released as a pilot

    The new Inspiring Skills portal has was released to a group of schools and businesses at the BizEd conference in Wakefield UK.  The service is currently free and brings together education and business with matching functionality for 20 enterprise activities including work experience.

    Big Business inspires young to fill growth sector jobs

    New study claims soft skills valued over technical knowledge in graduates

    The Telegraph is reporting a new study that claims effective communication and an ability to work as part of a team are valued more highly than technical knowledge by graduate employers.

    The survey of 198 UK employers found that soft skills, including confidence and an ability to be analytical were all valued more than technical knowledge by employers at the recruitment stage.

    Britain faces "growing shortage" of digital skills - The Telegraph

    Announced in November last year by Labour leader, Ed Miliband, the task force was set up with the aim of closing the skills gap in the British work force.

    Estimates from the Science Council suggest that the ICT workforce will grow by 39 per cent by 2030, and a 2013 report from O2 stated that around 745,000 additional workers with digital skills would be needed to meet demand between now and 2017.

    Inspiring Skills and Squirrelit were featured in Friday First special skills event on 7th March 2014 Mike Denby from Wakefield Council spoke about Apprenticeship opportunities to celebrate National Apprenticeship week. The keynote speaker, Simon Nadin, has held high profile roles at Rolls Royce and now Siemens and discussed the need for better soft skills and a lack of engineers.
